Advocacy

Combat Veterans of America (CVA) leads with integrity and purpose—advocating nationwide for policies that strengthen accountability, transparency, and results within the veterans’ community. Our mission is to ensure that combat veterans, and all who served, have a seat at the table when national decisions are made that directly affect their lives.

CVA intends to engage with Congress, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, and other key federal and state policymakers. Our work focuses on (1) veterans’ healthcare, (2) education, and (3) employment, with an additional focus on lobbying reform—always through a lens of ethics, service, and accountability.

For too long, many 501(c)3 veterans service organizations have quietly engaged in lobbying on behalf of undisclosed interests—foreign, corporate, or otherwise—without the transparency or compliance that federal law requires. Lobbying reform in the VSO community is long overdue. CVA intends to lead that reform on Capitol Hill by setting a new standard of honesty, nonpartisanship, and ethical reporting.”
— Matthew Feehan, J.D., Director of Government Affairs

CVA’s advocacy efforts aim to translate complex legislative, regulatory, and judicial developments into clear, actionable information for every veteran—combat or not—so that our community can stay informed, empowered, and engaged.

Monthly Advocacy Report

BECOME A MEMBER

Members of Combat Veterans of America will receive a monthly Government Affairs & Advocacy Brief, covering the latest developments in Congress, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and federal courts that directly impact our community. Each issue breaks down complex legislative, regulatory, and judicial updates into plain language—so every veteran can understand what’s being proposed, who’s behind it, and how to take action. Our goal is simple: to make sure no veteran is left out of the national policy conversation because of politics, jargon, or bureaucracy.

Federal & State Policy

At Combat Veterans of America, we believe:

All lobbying is advocacy—but not all advocacy is lobbying. As a 501(c)(19), the extent of lobbying is not limited in the way the IRS limits 501(c)(3) organizations.
